The Nafra town is about 400 km from Guwahati and approachable from Tezpur, Bhalukpong and Bomdila. The project location is 10 km from Nafra town. The project is planned as a Run-of the river project having 40m high rock fill dam and concrete spillway with four radial gates of 10m width and 12m height.
The intake structure is located on the right bank. The reservoir formed will be of 32.67 ha spread and gross storage capacity of 5.267 m.cum. The HRT is modified horse shoe shape 5.0 m in diameter and 3.68 km long. The surge shaft is 10.5 m diameter and 57 m deep. Two pen stocks of 30m diameter are proposed connecting the surface power house. The tail race channel of 165m length leads the water back to the stream after generation.
Present status
A detailed project Report has been finalized after intensive field investigations and submitted for appraisal and clearances from various Central and State Government agencies. A presentation of the DPR was given to CEA in October 2009. The Hydrological aspects of the project were approved by CWC during January 2010. Techno Economic clearance from CEA communicated vide CEA letter no 2/ARP/16/CEA/09-PAC/1078-1111 dated 11th Feb 2011. All statutory and other clearances are obtained. Accorded Final Environmental Clearance from MOEF for 96 MW on 17th January 2011. Deputy Commissioner, West Kameng District, Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh had issued “Award” in Land Acquisition proceedings for the SEW Nafra HEP for 78.45 ha and directed to pay on 18.5.2011. Forest Advisory Committee of MOEF had approved the Diversion of Forest land of 78.45 ha for the Nafra HEP during the meeting in June 2011. Final orders of stage I clearance are awaited.
